Muara Kelingi, Musi Rawas, KOTABARI.COM – A tragic accident occurred on Thursday morning (23/05/2023) around 5:30 AM on the Trans-Sumatra Highway in Lubuk Mudo Village, Muara Kelingi District, Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra. A black Toyota Rush travel vehicle with license plate BG 1850 XQ plunged into the Kelingi River, resulting in four fatalities and two survivors.
The vehicle was driven by Atmam (25), a student from Lesung Batu Village, Rawas Ulu District, Muratara Regency. Atmam was transporting five passengers from Palembang to Muratara. Unfortunately, Atmam was one of the deceased in this accident.
According to Musi Rawas Police Chief AKBP Andi Supriadi, through the Head of Public Relations AKP Herdiansyah, the four deceased victims are:
- Atmam (25) – Driver, student, resident of Lesung Batu Village, Rawas Ulu District, Muratara Regency.
- Elsa (28) – Private employee, resident of Prabumulih City.
- Sundara (32) – Private employee, resident of Lubuk Kemang Village, Rawas Ulu District, Muratara Regency.
- Tati (34) – Private employee, resident of Lubuk Kemang Village, Rawas Ulu District, Muratara Regency.
Meanwhile, the two passengers who survived without injuries are:
- Anisa (19) – Private employee, resident of Lesung Batu Village, Rawas Ulu District, Muratara Regency.
- Taufik Hidayat (45) – Private employee, resident of Lesung Batu Village, Rawas Ulu District, Muratara Regency.
According to AKP Herdiansyah, the accident is suspected to have occurred due to the driver’s negligence and lack of caution. Atmam was believed to be driving at high speed while drowsy, causing him to lose control and plunge into the river.
“Upon arriving at the scene, the driver is suspected to have been drowsy and lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and into the river,” explained AKP Herdiansyah.
Authorities are currently conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident. This incident serves as a reminder for everyone to always be cautious and ensure they are in prime physical condition when driving, especially on long-distance journeys.
