Kayuagung, KOTABARI.COM – The Head of the Ogan Komering Ilir Regency National Narcotics Agency (BNNK OKI), AKBP Gendi Mahzareki, was involved in a traffic accident on the Kayuagung-Palembang toll road on Tuesday afternoon (June 4, 2024). In this incident, AKBP Gendi Mahzareki suffered a broken right leg and shortness of breath.
In addition to AKBP Gendi, another victim named Sohe also experienced shortness of breath but remained conscious. Both victims were immediately taken to Bhayangkara Hospital in Palembang for further treatment.
Sabdo Harimurti, the Operational Manager of the Kapal toll road section, confirmed that there were no fatalities in the accident, which occurred at kilometer 364 A of the Kayuagung-Palembang section. According to Sabdo, the accident involved a Daihatsu Terios minibus with the license plate BG 1376 KZ, which struck the side of a box truck with the license plate H 9274 LQ.
“The two injured victims have been taken to Bhayangkara Hospital in Palembang,” said Sabdo on Wednesday (June 5, 2024).
Based on information from the scene, the minibus was traveling from Kayuagung to Palembang at a speed exceeding 80 km/h and failed to anticipate the truck in front of it, resulting in the collision. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Both vehicles involved in the accident have been taken to the Kapal Betung PJR post. “The two victims received initial treatment from the emergency medical team at Bunda Jakabaring Hospital before being referred to Bhayangkara Hospital in Palembang,” added Sabdo.
Following the incident, the toll management issued an apology for any inconvenience caused and urged road users to always comply with driving rules and regulations. “It is crucial to adhere to the maximum speed limit of 80 km/h, check vehicle conditions before departure, and ensure that you are in a good condition for driving,” Sabdo emphasized.
