Palembang, KOTABARI.COM – A shocking incident occurred on Mayor Zen Street, Kalidoni District, on Sunday (June 30, 2024). An unidentified man broke into a house, holding a maid and six children hostage in a room, and stealing two mobile phones belonging to the homeowner’s children and niece.
The masked and helmeted perpetrator was caught on CCTV herding the house’s occupants, which included six children and teenagers along with the maid, into a room.
Khodijah, the maid, recounted that the man initially pretended to seek shelter from the rain. “At first, I asked him what he was doing, and he said he wanted to take shelter. He was outside the house,” Khodijah said on Tuesday (July 2, 2024).
Shortly after, the man was suddenly inside the house while Khodijah was eating in the kitchen. “He came through the side door. I was shocked when he suddenly demanded valuables, money, and mobile phones while pointing a weapon at my cheek,” she said. The perpetrator threatened her with what appeared to be a firearm.
Khodijah and the six children were held hostage in the homeowner’s room for several minutes. At the time, the homeowner was out selling goods. “It was just me, the homeowner’s children, nieces, and their friends. We were all locked in the room while the perpetrator demanded our phones,” Khodijah added.
The perpetrator searched the house and stole two mobile phones before escaping. “We were locked in for about 10 minutes. The door was opened by one of the homeowner’s nieces who was in the back room and wasn’t locked up. The perpetrator fled because it was still daylight,” Khodijah explained.
Khodijah and the homeowner have reported the incident to the Kalidoni Police Station. “Only my phone and the phone held by the homeowner’s child were taken. Other items were safe,” Khodijah concluded.
