OKU Selatan, KOTABARI.COM – Materializing in the form of soil, shrubs, and fallen trees, a landslide has completely blocked access to three subdistricts and dozens of villages in Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan (OKUS) Regency. The incident occurred early in the morning on Tuesday, resulting in several vehicles getting trapped and unable to pass.
Suryanto, a motorcyclist traveling from the Simpang Campang direction, expressed his frustration, “We can’t pass through. We were planning to turn back since morning.” As of Tuesday afternoon, vehicles, both two-wheelers and four-wheelers, still couldn’t traverse the road due to the landslide that covered the entire stretch of the 10-meter road.
Observations at the site indicated that the thickness of the landslide debris prevented vehicles from passing through. Meanwhile, the South OKU Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has confirmed the deployment of a team equipped with heavy machinery to clear the landslide debris blocking the road.
“We have dispatched heavy machinery to the location to remove the landslide debris,” stated Koni Ramli, a representative of the BPBD South OKU.
At present, some stranded vehicles have chosen to turn around due to the insurmountable thickness of the landslide material. Local authorities and the relevant agencies are making every effort to resolve the situation promptly, ensuring that access to the affected subdistricts and villages is restored, and safe passage for vehicles is established.
Local residents are advised to remain cautious and follow the instructions of the local authorities when passing through the area. Updates on the road restoration progress will be provided by the relevant authorities.
