PALEMBANG, KOTABARI.COM – The Special Crime Prosecutor’s Office of South Sumatra (Kejati Sumsel) has once again questioned three witnesses in connection with a suspected case of corruption, collusion, and nepotism (KKN) involving the Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer (KSB) of the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) South Sumatra. The questioning of these witnesses took place on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.

Vanny Yulia Eka Sari, Head of Public Relations at Kejati Sumsel, explained that the case revolves around the disbursement of deposits, the use of grants from the South Sumatra Provincial Government, and the procurement of goods funded by the Regional Budget (APBD) for the 2021 fiscal year.

The three witnesses questioned today are TI, a staff member of KONI South Sumatra, DS, a staff member of the South Sumatra Youth and Sports Office, and RS, an employee of Bank South Sumatra Bangka Belitung.

Vanny stated, “All three of them were present to complete the case files of the three suspects and to further examine the evidence.”

In this case, two out of the three suspects who have been identified, namely Secretary General Suparman Roman and Treasurer General Akhmad Thahir, have been detained at the Pakjo Palembang Detention Center. Both of them held the position of Acting Chairman of KONI South Sumatra since August 24, 2023.

On the other hand, Chairman of KONI South Sumatra, Hendri Zainuddin (HZ), was only designated as a suspect on Monday, September 4, 2023. However, HZ has not been detained as of now due to his cooperative behavior during the questioning.

Vanny explained, “According to the Special Crime Prosecutor’s Team at Kejati Sumsel, suspect HZ is still considered cooperative. This is in line with Article 21 of the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), which states that there is no concern about the suspect fleeing, destroying evidence, or repeating the offense.”

The case is still under further investigation by the Prosecutors at Kejati Sumsel.
