Palembang, KOTABARI.COM – Firefighters and forensic investigators from Palembang Police Department fought tirelessly for four hours to extinguish the flames and black smoke that engulfed the Palembang Square shopping complex on Saturday morning.
This tragic incident is believed to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit in the connecting panel between the second and fifth floors of the shopping complex. This information was disclosed by forensic investigators from the Palembang Police Department who were present at the scene.
Kotabari.com, which closely monitored the incident, reported that after strenuous efforts, the fire was finally extinguished. However, the continuous billowing of smoke made the situation more complex and required more time to ensure that the fire was completely under control.
Forensic investigators from the Palembang Police Department were seen busy setting up police lines around the area of the electrical panel, which was the focal point of the fire. Meanwhile, the management of Palembang Square Mall also attempted to extinguish the fire by activating the hydrant system since 9:30 a.m.
“Although the fire briefly went out, it reappeared in other areas, extending the firefighting process until around 10 a.m., or approximately four hours of extinguishing,” said M. Hardiansyah, the Operational Coordinator of the Palembang City Fire Department, to Kotabari.com.
The incident sparked anxiety and panic in the vicinity of Palembang Square Mall, but thanks to the hard work of the responders, the situation was eventually brought under control.
As of now, there have been no reports of casualties or material losses due to this fire. Authorities are still conducting further investigations to identify the exact cause of the fire.
