Muara Enim, KOTABARI.COM – Heavy rainfall since early morning in Muara Enim has caused the Aur River to overflow, resulting in floods in several areas, particularly in Pasar III, Muara Enim District. According to reports received by Sudirman, Head of the Emergency Response Division of the South Sumatra Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD Sumsel), the situation began to worsen at 05.00 AM, and the latest report at 09.00 AM shows that dozens of houses have been submerged by the floodwaters.
Although there have been no reported casualties, more than 50 houses inhabited by around 60 households have been affected by the flood. This situation has the potential to worsen, with the flood expected to spread to other lower-lying areas.
Sudirman stated that the high intensity of rainfall has caused the Aur River to overflow, inundating the surrounding areas. Currently, road access is still passable, but several houses remain submerged. A rapid response team has been deployed to the location to provide assistance and conduct assessments of the affected houses.
“We have prepared various emergency equipment, including rescue vehicles, inflatable boats, life jackets, and motorboats to assist in evacuations and flood management. We urge the public to remain vigilant and cautious while heavy rainfall persists,” Sudirman said.
Local residents are advised to stay calm and follow the instructions of emergency responders. The local government is also monitoring the situation closely and ready to provide additional assistance as needed.
