Musi Banyuasin, KOTABARI.COM – The Reskrim Unit of Polsek Lais, under the leadership of Chief Detective Aipda Aan Febriyanto SH, has successfully carried out Operation Musi Sweep 2023. On Wednesday (August 30, 2023), the operation resulted in the arrest of two men suspected of being involved in drug trafficking in the area.

The two suspects, identified as Paredi (24) and Ardian (19), residents of Peldas Village in Rantau Bayur Sub-district, Musi Banyuasin Regency, were apprehended on West Tanjung Agung Road, Lais Sub-district. This operation was conducted as part of an effort to combat drug-related crimes in the region.

The operation led to the seizure of substantial pieces of evidence. Inside a brown shoulder bag of Polo Amstar brand carried by Paredi, two packages containing approximately 20.58 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine (sabu) were discovered. Additionally, 80.5 brown-colored pills, believed to be ecstasy, were found. A transparent plastic clip, presumably used for packaging narcotics, was also confiscated.

Kapolsek Lais, AKP Hendra Sutisna SH, confirmed the unveiling of the case and highlighted the operational success in exposing the drug-related crime in their jurisdiction. “We’ve successfully unveiled a narcotics case within our area during Operation Musi Sweep 2023,” stated Kapolsek Lais during an interview with the media on Thursday (August 31, 2023).

AKP Hendra elaborated that the operation began when the Chief Detective, accompanied by patrol members, engaged in a hunt as part of the Musi Sweep 2023 Operation to prevent disturbances to public order and other legal violations within their jurisdiction.

“At around 1:00 AM in the West Tanjung Agung Road, the team encountered two men whose behavior appeared suspicious. Upon inspection, incriminating items suspected to be narcotics, including crystal methamphetamine and ecstasy, were found in a bag carried by one of the suspects,” explained Kapolsek.

Kapolsek Lais also called upon the community, particularly within the Lais sub-district, to collaborate with law enforcement agencies in the effort to combat drug-related crimes. “We urge the public to share information with us if they become aware of any drug distribution or abuse. Through such operations, we can gradually shield the younger generation from the detrimental impacts of narcotics,” he added.
