Palembang, KOTABARI.COM – Dozens of residents of Griya Tanjung Wahid Housing Complex in Talang Kepuh, Gandus, Palembang, visited the Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) branch in Palembang on Monday, October 2, 2023, to voice their grievances regarding the closure of the main access road to their housing complex by a landowner. This concern arose from the realization that the road, which they had been using as a public thoroughfare, actually belonged to another resident and had not been released by the property developer.

Affected by the road closure, residents found themselves unable to enter or exit their housing complex due to the concrete barrier erected by the landowner. A local resident named Aan stated, “We seek a solution because we can’t pass through; we just found out it’s not a public road anymore, and now it’s blocked by the landowner.”

The barrier has been in place for a week, forcing residents to use a temporary alternative route located behind the housing complex, which is only permitted for use for one more week or a maximum of two weeks. Afterward, this alternative access will also be closed off.

This issue has been ongoing since 2021 and 2022, with residents previously attempting to lodge complaints with BTN. However, only two residents raised concerns, and their complaints went unanswered. This time, hundreds of Griya Tanjung Wahid residents came together to ensure that this matter receives serious attention.

Residents feel isolated and are concerned about future difficulties in accessing their homes if this issue is not promptly addressed. The alternative route they are currently using is longer, dusty, and will become impassable during the rainy season.

The management of BTN Palembang eventually met with a group of resident representatives and pledged to follow up on their complaints. Lutfi, the Deputy Branch Manager of BTN Palembang, expressed his commitment to finding a solution promptly. He also encouraged residents to have their concerns presented by a few representatives, as complaints from representatives would also be taken seriously.

The Griya Tanjung Wahid community hopes for a swift resolution to restore access to the crucial main road that facilitates their mobility. BTN is willing to cooperate in resolving this issue and will take concrete steps to find a suitable solution.
