Palembang, KOTABARI.COM – A terrifying incident occurred early Sunday morning (7/7) at Ruby Residence Shop, Jalan Angkatan 66, Kemuning District, Palembang. A truck lost control and crashed into a shop and a parked car in the shop’s yard.
Fajri Septia Agung (31), the shop’s occupant, recounted the incident, which happened around 01:00 AM. “At 01:00 AM, a yellow truck crashed into our car. CCTV footage from neighbors showed the truck rolling backward because it couldn’t climb the hill,” he told Kotabari on Tuesday (9/7/2024).
The loud crash woke Fajri’s parents, who were on the second floor. Subsequently, Fajri, along with his wife and child, who were sleeping on the third floor, also woke up and checked the situation from the window.
“When we checked from the third-floor window, we saw the truck had hit our car. We immediately went downstairs to approach the truck,” he said.
However, their attempt to get out was hindered by the damaged rolling door. By the time they managed to get outside, the truck had already fled towards Flyover Sekip.
“Our rolling door was damaged from the crash, making it difficult for us to get out of the shop. When we finally got out, the truck had already fled towards Flyover Sekip,” Fajri explained.
He added that the truck, unable to climb the hill, swerved to the right, hitting several shop signposts across the street, causing severe damage. The truck then rolled backward to the left, hitting the rear of the car in the shop’s yard.
“My car, which was hit, lurched forward and slammed into the rolling door. Even the car parked inside the shop moved slightly, causing its bumper to get scratched,” Fajri detailed.
As a result of the incident, the right rear part of his car was dented, and its lights were broken. Additionally, the rolling door repair is estimated to cost around IDR 5 million.
“The rolling door repair will cost around IDR 2-5 million. We haven’t fixed the car yet because we don’t have insurance. The total cost might reach tens of millions,” he added.
Fajri is still waiting for the truck driver to take responsibility. He explained that the truck’s license plate number couldn’t be identified despite checking various CCTV footage from neighbors.
“We are still waiting for the truck driver to take responsibility. We haven’t reported it to the police yet because we’re still gathering complete information,” he concluded.
This incident adds to the list of traffic accidents in Palembang, often caused by heavy vehicles losing control on uphill roads. The public is urged to always be cautious and adhere to traffic regulations for everyone’s safety.
