Prabumulih, KOTABARI.COM – Two young women narrowly escaped death when their Ford Epres car, bearing license plate BG 1712 CD, was struck by the Babaranjang train traveling from Palembang to Tanjung Enim on Thursday morning (12/26) around 7:55 AM.
The incident occurred at an unguarded railway crossing at KM 326+6 on the downstream track of PBR to Penimur, precisely at Simpang 4 Ahok, Patih Galung Subdistrict, Prabumulih Barat District, Prabumulih City.
The victims were identified as Risky Yusniar (33), a resident of Jalan Manggis, Prabujaya Subdistrict, Prabumulih Timur District, and Nurlitasari (28), a resident of Jalan Arjuna, Wonosari Subdistrict, Prabumulih. Both victims suffered shock and minor injuries and were immediately transported to the nearest hospital for treatment.
According to gathered reports, the accident happened when the two victims attempted to cross the tracks in their Ford Epres. Unfortunately, the car’s engine suddenly stalled on the tracks, causing panic.
At the same time, the Babaranjang train, with locomotive number 3665 f, operated by Bayu Widodo as the engineer and Ahmad Imam as the assistant engineer, came from the left side, hitting the car and dragging it over 20 meters. The vehicle sustained severe damage, particularly on the left side.
“The car was heavily damaged on the left door, but thankfully, there were no fatalities,” said a local resident via telephone to reporters.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of unguarded railway crossings. As of this report, both victims are still receiving medical care, while authorities are urged to reassess safety measures at the accident site.
