Baturaja, KOTABARI.COM – A tragic multi-vehicle accident involving three motorcycles on the Banuayu Village section of the Lubukbatang Subdistrict’s main road, OKU, has claimed the life of a 19-year-old college student. The victim’s mother, Femi Yunizar, was overwhelmed with grief upon learning that her child had breathed their last at the RSUD dr. Ibnu Sutowo.
The horrifying accident unfolded as Femi and a friend, Riyan Anggara, were on their way from Prabumulih to Baturaja to attend a celebratory event. However, tragedy struck them on a straight stretch of the road when the Beat Street BG 5683 KAU motorcycle they were riding collided with the rear of the Honda Scoopy with license plate number BG 3926 AEQ, driven by Fitrotul Umaya (20). As a result, the Honda Scoopy swerved, subsequently bumping into the Honda Blade with license plate number BG 3032 FAG, which was being operated by Ida Ilmawati (56) and positioned on the left side of the Honda Scoopy.
The incident had fatal consequences for Femi, who was seated at the back of the motorcycle, and was catapulted forward, succumbing to her injuries at the scene. Riyan Anggara sustained minor abrasions to his chin and knees.
AKP Dwi Karti Astuti SH, the Head of Traffic at the OKU Regional Police, explained that the police are currently investigating this multi-vehicle accident. Riyan Anggara, the owner of the Honda Beat Street BG 5683 KAU, did not possess a valid SIM (driver’s license) and STNK (vehicle registration). Ida Ilmawati, the rider of the Honda Blade BG 3032 FAG, escaped with no injuries but also did not have a valid SIM. Fitrotul Umaya, who was on the Honda Scoopy BG 3926 AEQ, sustained minor injuries and also did not have a valid SIM.
The cause of the accident, as described by Kasat Lantas (Head of Traffic), was the lack of attentiveness and concentration on the part of the Honda Beat Street BG 5683 KAU rider.
Femi Yunizar’s family members arrived from the Kisam Tinggi Subdistrict in OKU to bid their final farewell to their beloved. Their presence at RSUD dr. Ibnu Sutowo Baturaja was filled with sorrow and devastation. The victim’s mother, in a state of hysteria, embraced her child’s lifeless body in the mortuary. Information indicates that Femi, who was studying in Palembang, was on her way to attend a local celebration in her hometown. Unfortunately, fate had other plans, and Femi Yunizar was called to meet the Creator before reaching her destination.
This tragic accident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of caution on the roads and the adherence to traffic regulations to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
