Palembang, KOTABARI.COM – “Starting today, the people of Sumsel who want to become members of the KPU Sumsel can register,” said Chairman of Timsel KPU Sumsel, Rudi Erwandi, at Office Tower 7th floor, Beston Hotel Palembang, on Saturday (July 15, 2023).
The registration period will last for 12 days, starting from July 15th to July 26th.
This will be followed by an administrative review process conducted by Timsel for a period of 19 days, from July 15th to August 2nd.
If the number of applicants during the registration period does not meet the minimum requirement twice, an extension of six days will be granted, from July 27th to August 1st.
There will be a series of tests that prospective members of the KPU Sumsel must undergo in order to proceed to the next stages.
“We definitely want credible candidates, and we work collectively to make decisions, but we maintain our independence,” he explained.
Rudi stated that those who wish to apply should pay attention to the fulfillment of several requirements that involve other parties.
Among the required documents are Sumsel residency e-ID card, legalized diploma, certificates of physical and mental health, as well as a drug-free certificate.
A criminal record clearance from the court, including a Police Record Certificate (SKCK), is also a requirement.
“Former convicts are allowed to apply as long as their sentence was not more than 5 years. This must be proven by a court certificate,” added Secretary of Timsel, Fernandes Maurisya.
Timsel member, Suratmi, further added that individuals who are interested in applying as candidates for KPU members can access the online registration form. The required document forms can be downloaded from the siakba.kpu.go.id website.
However, applicants are also required to submit physical copies of the documents to the Pansel Team through the Pansel secretariat at Jenderal Sudirman Street, Office Tower 7th floor, Beston Hotel Palembang.
“The final acceptance of documents will be awaited until 23:59 for document submission. If it’s on the previous day, the deadline is until 4:00 PM local time,” stated Suratmi.
In general, the requirements are not different from the previous KPU member admissions.
These include a minimum age of 35 years, at least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and residency in the respective KPU location.
The team ensures that each stage will be conducted in a proper, honest, and accountable manner, following the existing regulations.
“Each component can contribute to the evaluation, for example, a higher degree such as a Master’s degree will be given extra points. The higher the level of education, the higher the scoring, and also electoral experience and articles will be considered,” said Timsel member, Ong Berlian.
Another Timsel member, M. Adil, stated that there will be a written test and a psychological test conducted from August 7th to 13th.
Public input and responses will be gathered from August 16th to 21st.
This will be followed by a health examination from August 19th to 23rd and interviews from August 21st to 25th.
The announcement of the top 10 candidates for KPU members must be submitted no later than August 30th to the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU RI) for the fit and proper test process, from which 5 members will be selected.
“So, on August 30th, the top 10 candidates must be submitted to the KPU RI for the proper test. We are looking for a minimum of two candidates and a maximum of 100. If there are more than 100 applicants, they will be scored based on 5 components, and then further screened. This is a long process that takes 3 months, and finally, on August 30th, the last stage,” he said.
The selection team for prospective members of KPU Sumsel consists of Rudi Erwandi as Chairman, Fernandes Maurisya as Secretary, Muhammad Adil, Ong Berlian, and Suratmi as other members.
