Baturaja–Muara Enim, KOTABARI.COM – On Sunday (4/21/2024), the Baturaja–Muara Enim route came to a standstill due to incidents involving two coal trucks experiencing issues on the roadside. The gridlock began on Saturday (4/20/2024) around 9:00 PM local time.
Information from the field revealed that the gridlock stemmed from a breakdown of a Fuso truck loaded with coal, bearing license plate number BE 8193 BL. The truck suffered axle damage, obstructing traffic on the route.
Simultaneously, a coal-carrying vehicle with license plate BG 8581 LU also slid off the road, encroaching upon the road surface at Gunung Kuripan Village, Pengandonan District, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKU).
According to police reports, the gridlock occurred on Saturday (4/20/2024) around 9:00 PM local time at Tebing Kumbang, Sumatera Highway in Gunung Kuripan Village, Pengandonan District, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKU). The breakdown of the green Fuso truck BE 8193 BL carrying coal and the white Fuso truck BG 8581 LU sliding off the road were the main causes of this traffic congestion.
The Fuso truck, driven by Kiki Ardiansyah (40), a resident of Palembang, was transporting coal from Muaraenim towards Lampung. Meanwhile, the BG 8581 LU Fuso truck slid off the road, obstructing passing vehicles.
The gridlock ensued due to the uphill and narrow road conditions. As a result of these incidents, a total gridlock occurred from both directions, spanning approximately 50 kilometers.
The Pengandonan OKU Police Chief, Inspector Jenizar, along with his team, conducted the evacuation of the troubled vehicles and traffic control at the gridlock point to restore normal traffic conditions.
