Baturaja–Muara Enim, KOTABARI.COM – As of midday today, Sunday (4/21/2024), the Baturaja-Muara Enim route is still experiencing a total traffic jam due to a tragic incident involving two truck vehicles. A Fuso truck loaded with coal BE 8193 BL, along with one unit of coal-carrying car BG 8581 LU, has caused the route to be completely paralyzed.
Information from the field indicates that the traffic jam has been ongoing since Saturday (4/20/2024) around 9:00 PM local time at Tebing Kumbang, Sumatra’s National Road, in Gunung Kuripan Village, Pengandonan District, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKU).
The jam began when the Fuso truck BE 8193 BL, driven by Kiki Ardiansyah (40) from Palembang, experienced axle damage on the road. This truck was transporting coal from Muaraenim towards Lampung.
Almost simultaneously, a white Fuso car with the plate number BG 8581 LU skidded off the road, blocking other passing vehicles. The steep and narrow road condition primarily caused this incident.
OKU Police Chief, AKBP Imam Zamroni SIK MH, through Kasat Lantas AKP Dwi Karti Astuti SH, stated that the officers from the Traffic Unit of the OKU Regional Police, assisted by members of the Pengandonan Police Sector, continue to work on unraveling the traffic congestion.
As of now, the evacuation of the Fuso truck causing the traffic jam is still ongoing. Meanwhile, to alleviate the congestion, the police have implemented a traffic engineering system with intermittent road closures.
Vehicles coming from the Muaraenim direction are still unable to pass through the congested route, and drivers are advised to rest in parking lots. Meanwhile, vehicles from Baturaja heading to Muaraenim are redirected through Prabumulih.
At the location, a number of police personnel assisted by the military are continuously directing the flow of vehicle traffic at Sumatra’s Linsum Road, Gunung Kuripan Village, Pengandonan District, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency.
This traffic jam has crippled traffic flow from both directions along a stretch of approximately 50 KM. The Pengandonan OKU Police Chief, Iptu Jenizar, along with the officers, has been conducting the evacuation of the Fuso truck causing the congestion and traffic management to restore normalcy.
Four-wheeled vehicle drivers are urged to temporarily avoid the routes affected by the total traffic jam until the situation returns to normal.
