Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan, KOTABARI.COM – The Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Selatan District Attorney’s Office has named the Head of the Senior High School Division of the South Sumatra Provincial Education Department, identified by the initials JP, as a suspect in an alleged corruption case involving the construction project of a new building for SMA Negeri 02 Buay Pemaca. The alleged corruption is estimated to have caused state losses amounting to IDR 719,681,738.60.
The Head of OKU Selatan District Attorney’s Office, Adi Purnama, confirmed the suspect designation for JP, who also served as the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) for the project. “Yes, it is true, we named the Head of South Sumatra Senior High School Division as a suspect yesterday. The designation of JP as a suspect is based on the order of the Head of the OKU Selatan District Attorney’s Office, Number: TAP-985/L.6.23/Fd.1/05/2024, dated May 29, 2024,” Adi told detikSumbagsel on Thursday (May 30, 2024).
Following the suspect designation, as per the decree of the Head of OKU Selatan District Attorney’s Office Number: PRINT-825/L.6.23/Fd.1/05/2024, dated May 29, 2024, JP was immediately detained to facilitate the investigation process. “We immediately carried out the detention. JP is detained for the next 20 days and placed in Class IIB Muaradua Prison, from May 29 to June 17, 2024,” Adi explained.
The suspect’s actions are alleged to have violated Article 2 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes, in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) point 1 and Article 56 of the Criminal Code. Alternatively, JP is charged under Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes, in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) point 1 and Article 56 of the Criminal Code.
The designation of JP as a suspect marks a significant step in the fight against corruption in South Sumatra.
