Muratara, KOTABARI.COM – A civil servant (PNS) from Musi Rawas Regency, identified as Wahyuni Puspita Sari, tragically lost her life in an accident on Jalan Lintas Sumatera (Jalinsum). The incident occurred on Monday (30/12/2024) at 7:15 AM in Batu Gajah Village, Rupit District, Musi Rawas Utara (Muratara).
The accident happened when Wahyuni, riding her Honda Beat motorcycle with license plate BG 634 RY, collided with a buffalo wandering on the road. The victim, a resident of Remban Village, Rawas Ulu District, Muratara, was on her way to work when the crash occurred. She sustained severe injuries and succumbed to them while being transported to Rupit Regional General Hospital (RSUD).
According to her relative, Putri, Wahyuni typically used a travel service for her daily commute to work. However, on the day of the accident, she opted to ride her motorcycle because she had an early-morning ceremony to attend. “She usually takes a taxi, but today she used her motorbike because she had to attend a ceremony,” said Putri. The news of her death deeply shocked her family, especially as she leaves behind a young child.
IPDA Didian Perkasa, Acting Head of Public Relations at Muratara Police, confirmed the incident. He stated that Wahyuni was traveling from Rupit towards Lubuklinggau when her motorcycle hit the buffalo. “As a result of the accident, the victim passed away on the way to Rupit Hospital,” Didian explained.
Police have secured the victim’s Honda Beat motorcycle as evidence. Didian urged the public to exercise greater caution while driving, particularly on roads prone to accidents. “We also call on livestock owners to properly secure and pen their animals, preventing them from roaming on roads where they could cause accidents,” he added.
This tragic incident serves as a reminder for everyone about the importance of road safety and the responsibility of animal owners to ensure their livestock does not pose a danger to motorists.
