DKI Jakarta, KOTABARI.COM – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has made a stunning move by conducting an operation that resulted in the arrest of eight individuals in connection with suspected corruption related to the procurement of goods and services at the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas). The focus of the KPK’s investigation in this case is on the corruption involving the procurement of debris victim detection equipment.

Chairman of the KPK, Firli Bahuri, provided a statement to journalists regarding the operation, which took place on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, in the areas of East Jakarta and Bekasi. The eight arrested individuals are allegedly involved in accepting a share of the project’s value as a fee for their role in the procurement of debris victim detection equipment.

“The fee’s amount is 10 percent of the project’s value,” revealed Firli Bahuri.

As of now, the KPK is still working on gathering information and evidence related to the case. The identities of the eight individuals arrested in the operation have not been disclosed in detail by the KPK. However, it is known that one of them is an official from Basarnas.

Information gathered from detikcom’s sources indicates that a member of the Indonesian Air Force, named Lieutenant Colonel Admiral Afri Budi Cahyanto, is one of those apprehended in this operation. He serves as the Coordinator of Administration (Koorsmin) at Basarnas.

Meanwhile, Head of Basarnas, Air Marshal Madya Henri Alfiandi, stated that they have not yet received an official report regarding the arrest of Lieutenant Colonel Admiral Afri Budi Cahyanto from the KPK investigators. The information was only acquired through the media.

The KPK is committed to thoroughly investigate this case and will provide further updates on its progress. The corruption case within Basarnas is a matter of serious concern, as it directly impacts the quality of services and handling of debris victims, which necessitates reliable and trustworthy victim detection equipment. All parties hope for a fair and transparent legal process to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law in Indonesia.
