Gelumbang, KOTABARI.COM – The controversy surrounding the alleged dual position holding within the Gelumbang Subdistrict Election Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) in Muara Enim Regency has become a topic of intense scrutiny. These allegations emerged following the issuance of a public advisory by the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of Muara Enim Regency to all members of the Subdistrict Election Supervisory Committees within the region.
The advisory, dated January 6, 2023, bearing reference number 006/KP.01/K.SS- 04/01/2023, emphasizes the importance of avoiding dual position holding that conflicts with the legal regulations governing elections in Indonesia. The content of the advisory explains that according to Law Number 07 of 2017 concerning General Elections and Regulation Number 19 of 2017 by the Election Supervisory Body, a member of Panwaslu is prohibited from holding dual positions, such as being a Village Official, a Government Employee with a Contract (PPPK), a Village Consultative Body (BPD) member, a Family Hope Program (PKH) participant, and a Village Companion Graduate.
However, residents of Gelumbang Raya have expressed concerns about the alleged dual position holding by an individual within the Gelumbang Subdistrict Election Supervisory Committee. Several citizens have raised doubts about the scrutiny and verification process regarding the positions held by the individual before being appointed as a member of Panwaslu.
A resident named Saab conveyed their concerns, stating, “I just read this circular, and in Gelumbang Subdistrict’s Panwaslu, there is an individual who holds dual positions, namely as a member of BPD in Tambangan Kelekar Village, Gelumbang Subdistrict. However, as far as we know, there has been no resignation from either of these positions.”
Meanwhile, Zakaria, the Head of Gelumbang Subdistrict Panwaslu, acknowledged that an individual with the initials AK had been inaugurated as a member of Gelumbang Panwaslu. However, he was unaware of AK’s position as a member of BPD in Tambangan Kelekar Village.
Authorities in Muara Enim Regency also provided their perspectives. The Acting Subdistrict Chief of Gelumbang, Chandra Firmansyah, through the Head of Government Affairs for Gelumbang Subdistrict, Ahyaudin, confirmed that AK still held the position as a member of BPD in Tambangan Kelekar Village, but as of now, no resignation letter had been received.
Suprayitno, the Chairman of Bawaslu Muara Enim Regency, who issued the advisory, has not yet responded or addressed the alleged dual position holding affecting a member of Gelumbang Subdistrict Panwaslu.
As the debate continues over the authority and ethics of holding dual positions within election-related institutions, the controversy intensifies. The public and concerned parties eagerly await further responses and actions to address this issue.
