Jakarta, KOTABARI.COM – In the third match of the Tryout Tour Jawa held at Jakarta International Stadium, Sriwijaya FC’s foreign striker duo, Chencho Gyelshen from Bhutan and Kervens Belfort from Haiti, failed to deliver their best performance. In the match that took place on Friday (August 11, 2023) afternoon, Sriwijaya FC was defeated by FC Bekasi City with a final score of 2-3.
Both foreign players, Chencho Gyelshen and Kervens Belfort, have not fully adapted to the team’s playing style, leading to some miscommunications during the match. Nevertheless, Head Coach of Sriwijaya FC, Coach Yoyo, understood the situation and accepted the risks of integrating two new players into the team.
Coach Yoyo emphasized the importance of communication training between players to address this issue. “Evaluation requires team communication with these two foreign players. They need to practice extensively to improve communication,” Coach Yoyo stated on Saturday (August 12, 2023).
During the match, Sriwijaya FC initially led 2-1 against FC Bekasi City, with goals scored by wingers Fransiskus Alessandro and Tomi Darmawan. However, FC Bekasi City managed to turn the tables and concluded the match with a narrow 2-3 victory, thanks to contributions from former national player Ismed Sofyan and Chad’s striker zechiel N’Douassel.
Coach Yoyo admitted that miscommunication occurred especially when foreign players were introduced to the game. He emphasized that this was part of the purpose of friendly matches – to identify issues and rectify them as time progresses.
Reflecting on this result, Coach Yoyo stated that his team will continue to work hard to improve communication and overall team performance. He also reaffirmed that despite the unsatisfactory outcome, Sriwijaya FC’s performance in the first half showcased commendable play.
Under the guidance of Coach M Yusup Prasetyo, Sriwijaya FC is preparing for the upcoming Liga 2 competition scheduled to commence in September 2023. The team has undergone several changes in its squad, including the addition of new players, such as foreign attacking midfielder Kervens Belfort from Haiti.
