Jakarta, KOTABARI.COM – Former Head of Subdivision Fasharkan of the Korpolairud Baharkam Polri, Commissioner General Yulius Bambang Karyanto, has officially been declared a suspect in a drug case after a series of investigations and case reviews by investigators from the Narcotics Division of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. The decision to designate him as a suspect was announced by the Director of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner General Endra Zulpan, on January 11, 2023.
This case has not only jeopardized his police career, but also resulted in disciplinary and ethical violations. Commissioner of Police (Kombes) Yulius Bambang Karyanto was found guilty of ethical misconduct and reprehensible behavior by the Indonesian National Police’s Ethics Code Commission (KKEP). The KKEP session, held on Monday (8/21/2023), was announced by the Head of the Public Relations Bureau, Division of Public Affairs of the Indonesian National Police, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan.
The decision of the KKEP session led to his dishonorable dismissal from the police force. This administrative sanction was based on Article 13, paragraph (1) of Government Regulation Number 1 of 2003 concerning the Dismissal of Police Officers, in conjunction with Article 5, paragraph (1) letter b, Article 8, paragraph c, point 1, and Article 13, letter e of the Indonesian National Police Regulation Number 7 of 2022 regarding the Code of Professional Ethics and the Police Ethics Commission.
The KKEP session was chaired by the Director of Wairwasum of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General Tornagogo Sihombing, acting as the Chairman of the KKEP, along with a deputy, the Director of Karowabprof of the Indonesian National Police. Additionally, there were three KKEP members involved in this session, namely Commissioner of Police Sakeus Ginting (Sesrowabprof Divpropam Polri), Commissioner of Police Rudy Mulyanto (Kabagbinetika Rowabprof Divpropam Polri), and Commissioner of Police Restawaty Tampubolon (Analyst Middle Policy Area of Rowabprof Divpropam Polri).
Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, in his statement to the press, revealed that Commissioner General Yulius Bambang Karyanto is currently undergoing a criminal trial process and has been detained. This underscores the Indonesian National Police’s commitment to zero tolerance for police officers involved in drug-related crimes, in line with the Police Chief’s pledge.
As additional information, Yulius Bambang Karyanto was apprehended by investigators from the Narcotics Division of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police at a hotel in the Kelapa Gading area, North Jakarta, on January 6, 2023. During the arrest, he was accompanied by a female friend with the initial “R.” From the location, investigators managed to seize two clips of crystal methamphetamine and paraphernalia for drug use as evidence.
