Palembang, KOTABARI.COM – Sriwijaya FC (SFC) kicked off their campaign in the 2023/2024 Liga 2 season with a positive result. Laskar Wong Kito managed to defeat Sada Sumut FC with a final score of 2-0 in the first-week fixture held at Gelora Sriwijaya Jakabaring Stadium (GSJ) in Palembang on Sunday afternoon, September 10, 2023.
SFC displayed an impressive performance right from the start when the referee blew the whistle for the first half, taking the initiative in the attack. As a result, their winning goal came very early, precisely in the 2nd minute of the match. Herwin Tri was the first to find the net, capitalizing on a brilliant free-kick opportunity.
Although both teams made efforts to create scoring chances, the score remained in favor of SFC at 1-0 until the end of the first half.
In the second half, Sada Sumut FC made a determined effort to equalize. They attacked vigorously, but the solid defense of Laskar Wong Kito, led by Rudi N Rajak, thwarted their attempts.
SFC, on the other hand, didn’t sit back, and in the 76th minute, they came close to scoring their second goal through a header by their foreign player, Chencho. Unfortunately, the ball only hit the crossbar, denying them a second goal.
However, SFC’s hard work paid off in the 94th minute. Chencho, the SFC striker, capitalized on a counter-attack brilliantly and managed to score their second goal. The score changed to 2-0 in favor of Sriwijaya FC.
The referee eventually blew the final whistle, and the 2-0 scoreline remained until the end of the match. This victory provides a strong start for SFC in the new 2023/2024 Liga 2 season, while Sada Sumut FC will need to work on improving their performance for their upcoming matches.
