Tanjung Selor, KOTABARI.COM – The cause of death of Brigpol Setyo Herlambang, the Personal Bodyguard (Walpri) of the Chief of Police for North Kalimantan (Kaltara), Inspector General Pol Daniel Adityajaya, has finally been revealed after an autopsy was conducted at the Central Java Regional Police on Saturday (September 23, 2023).
The Spokesperson of the Central Java Regional Police, Commissioner Pol Satake Bayu, confirmed that the autopsy was carried out at the request of the victim’s family. The results of the autopsy, which have now been completed, indicate that the cause of Brigpol Setyo Herlambang’s death was a gunshot wound that penetrated the left side of the chest, damaging the heart and lungs and causing severe bleeding.
This tragic incident occurred on Friday (September 22, 2023) at around 13:10 Wita at the official residence of the North Kalimantan Police Headquarters (Mapolda Kaltara). The victim is suspected to have died due to negligence while cleaning a firearm of type HS-9 with the serial number HS178837. The weapon was found next to the victim’s body when it was discovered.
The Spokesperson of the North Kalimantan Regional Police, Commissioner Budi Rachmat, denied speculation that Brigpol Setyo Herlambang’s death was a result of suicide. He stated that the facts at the scene indicated that the victim was alone in the room when this tragic event occurred.
Inspector General Pol Daniel Adityajaya, the Chief of Police for North Kalimantan, who previously reported the death of Brigpol Setyo Herlambang, provided the latest explanation regarding the incident. Brigpol Setyo Herlambang, initially identified as the Chief of Police’s aide, is now confirmed to be the Personal Bodyguard of the Chief of Police for Kaltara.
Kapolda Adityajaya also mentioned that Brigpol Setyo Herlambang, who was a police officer from Kendal, Central Java, had only been his personal bodyguard for a few months.
The remains of Brigpol Setyo Herlambang have been transported from North Kalimantan to Surabaya by plane and then taken to Bhayangkara Hospital in Semarang for an autopsy, as requested by the family. After the autopsy is completed, the body will be buried in his hometown in Kendal, Central Java.
This incident has garnered public attention as previous cases of police officer deaths have come to light, implicating senior members of the Indonesian National Police, such as the case involving the planned murder of Brigadir Yosua Hutabarat, which involved the Head of the Police Professionalism and Security Affairs Division (Divisi Propam Polri), Inspector General Ferdy Sambo. Currently, the case of Brigpol Setyo Herlambang’s death is still under investigation to uncover the true facts surrounding the incident.
