Palembang, South Sumatra – The assault case involving a medical internship student from Sriwijaya University (Unsri) has drawn widespread public attention. Lady Aurellia Pramesti, a student allegedly at the center of the controversy, is now under sharp scrutiny as details of the incident spread across social media platforms.
Incident Chronology
According to a social media post by the account @czidntrlate, the incident began with a meeting between Chief Koas Luthfi and Sri Meilina, Lady’s mother, intended to discuss on-call scheduling. However, the meeting reportedly turned into a heated argument, with Sri accusing Luthfi of being disrespectful, citing his demeanor during the discussion.
The tension escalated into physical violence when Sri’s personal driver allegedly assaulted Athiya, a female colleague of Luthfi. Subsequently, Luthfi also became a victim of the altercation, marking a troubling incident within the academic environment.
Profile of Lady Aurellia Pramesti
Lady Aurellia, rumored to be the only child of a senior official at the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), is reportedly regarded unfavorably by her peers. An anonymous source described Lady as being pampered since childhood, often becoming a polarizing figure among her classmates.
“She’s a spoiled only child and has never been well-liked by the entire batch,” said the source. To support Lady’s social life, her mother, Sri Meilina, was said to have frequently treated Lady’s friends to lavish meals at upscale venues like Aston and Novotel, attempting to secure friendships for her daughter.
While this gesture initially earned goodwill, the friends later felt exploited, further straining relationships and Lady’s reputation among her peers.
Scrutiny Over Family Wealth
Public interest has also shifted to Lady’s father, Dedy Mandarsyah, after his wealth report, submitted through the State Officials Wealth Report (LHKPN), was reshared by the @musgiftah account on X (formerly Twitter).
According to the report, Dedy’s assets total Rp9.4 billion, including three plots of land and buildings in South Jakarta, a Honda CRV worth Rp450 million, other movable assets, securities, and cash and equivalents amounting to Rp6.7 billion.
However, the report has sparked skepticism among netizens, with many questioning its accuracy and speculating that Dedy’s actual wealth might far exceed the declared amount.
Public Reactions
The incident has triggered various reactions from students and the broader community. Unsri’s Faculty of Medicine is expected to issue a clarification, while many demand transparency in handling the case.
Amid ongoing speculations, this case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of addressing social conflicts within academic settings prudently to protect both institutional integrity and the rights of those involved.
