Musi Rawas Utara, KOTABARI.COM – Since late April, Musi Rawas Utara, South Sumatra, has been rocked by flash floods that destroyed a vital bridge connecting Rantau Telang Village and Tanjung Agung Village. As a result, residents and students have been struggling to reach their destinations due to the loss of access.
Responding swiftly, personnel from Babinsa Koramil 406-03/Rupit, a unit of Kodim 0406/Lubuklinggau, took action. They promptly assisted the community and students in crossing the Rupit River, which now serves as a boundary due to the collapsed bridge.
Danramil 406-03/Rupit, Captain Inf Assad, emphasized that the Babinsa Koramil 406-03/Rupit has been tirelessly aiding the community since the bridge collapsed in mid-April. They utilized 3 units of boats from the TNI AD to facilitate the crossing of residents.
“For more than two weeks, we have been striving to assist the community and students in crossing the Rupit River due to the loss of access caused by the collapsed bridge,” Captain Inf Assad told Kotabari.com.
The Babinsa members have been on standby at the location throughout the day, from morning until Maghrib, providing assistance to those in need. They remain ready to help even during the night if there are urgent needs such as assisting sick residents.
However, not all efforts have gone smoothly. Last Saturday, a Babinsa member, Praka Ridho, lost his motorcycle while focusing on helping school children cross the river. Nevertheless, Praka Ridho remains committed to fulfilling his duties with full dedication.
“Ikhlas, already. It’s part of fate (calamity). Now I am still here (at Rupit River) to help residents and school children who want to cross the river,” Praka Ridho said firmly.
Despite facing various challenges, the spirit of the personnel from Babinsa Koramil 406-03/Rupit never fades. They remain at the forefront, ready to provide assistance to the community in need, turning adversity into a challenge to be overcome together.
