Nibung, Muratara, KOTABARI.COM – Concern grips the North Musi Rawas District (Muratara) following the arrest of Camat Nibung, identified as BS, by the police in a drug abuse case. This incident has shaken the region, marking the involvement of a public figure in legal matters related to narcotics.
Muratara Police Chief, AKBP Koko Arianto Wardani, revealed the chronology of this arrest on Wednesday (1/31/2024). According to him, the arrest of Camat Nibung was not the main target of the operation conducted by the Narcotics Detective Unit of the Muratara Police.
Initially, the authorities received information from the public regarding a man identified as J who was allegedly carrying crystal methamphetamine. The law enforcement team then conducted an investigation into J, which eventually led them to the office of Camat Nibung.
“The main target was not BS (Camat Nibung) but rather J. However, when we were tailing J, he entered the office of Camat Nibung,” explained the Police Chief.
When J exited the office of Camat Nibung, the officers became suspicious of the possible involvement of the district head. Following a raid, Camat Nibung was caught red-handed while using crystal methamphetamine.
Chief Arianto explained that the arrest took place in the office of Camat Nibung during the morning working hours. Evidence seized included 0.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a drug paraphernalia, and a lighter used to consume the illegal substance.
Regarding the developments related to this arrest, the Police Chief stated that the police are still investigating the case. Meanwhile, the relationship status between BS and J is still under further investigation.
The arrest of Camat Nibung, a civil servant holding such a position, indicates that the drug trade can permeate various layers of society. The police will continue to investigate to uncover the entire network related to this case.
