Indralaya, KOTABARI.COM – Another traffic accident occurred on Thursday night (11/1/2024) on the Indralaya-Prabumulih Toll Road, involving three vehicles. The incident resulted in one fatality and two others sustaining injuries.
Ogan Ilir Police Chief, AKBP Andi Baso Rahman, represented by the Head of Traffic AKP Nofrizal Dwiyanto, explained that the accident took place at kilometer 29 from Prabumulih towards Indralaya around 7:00 PM. The collision involved a freight truck with license plate BG 8290 NI, a Honda HRV with license plate BG 1502 OB, and a Daihatsu Gran Max with license plate B 1121 BFD.
The initial collision occurred when the truck, traveling from Prabumulih to Indralaya, was rear-ended by the Honda HRV. A subsequent chain reaction was unavoidable as the Daihatsu Gran Max, traveling in the same lane, collided with the HRV.
As a result of the accident, three motorists suffered injuries and were promptly taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, the driver of the Gran Max, identified as 44-year-old Paul Lumban Tobing, succumbed to injuries while receiving medical attention. The other two victims are currently undergoing intensive care.
The three involved vehicles have been evacuated from the scene and secured at the Ogan Ilir Police Station. Authorities are actively investigating the precise cause of the accident and await the recovery of the HRV driver for further statements.
Head of Traffic AKP Nofrizal Dwiyanto urges drivers to exercise caution while on the road, especially on toll roads and during nighttime. The police also emphasize the importance of adhering to speed limits and, if feeling tired or drowsy, recommend taking a break. It is emphasized that the Indralaya-Prabumulih Toll Road is equipped with well-facilitated rest areas for drivers’ convenience.
