Sumatera Barat, KOTABARI.COM – Today, the aftermath of a cold lava flood from Mount Marapi, West Sumatra, has resulted in the severing of the national road access connecting Padang City and Bukittinggi. This incident occurred in Batang Anai, Silaiang, Tanah Datar, prompting local authorities to seek emergency solutions.

The cold lava overflow has rendered the road impassable for vehicles, forcing road users to seek alternative routes. According to the West Sumatra Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Pol Suharyono, there are two alternative routes available.

Firstly, through the alternative route via Singkarak, which can be traversed from Sitinjau Lauik, Solok, Singkarak, to Padang Panjang. Meanwhile, the second alternative route through Kelok 44 can be taken from BIM, Ulakan, Pariaman, Tiku, Lubuk Basung, Maninjau, Kelok 44, and Padang Luar.

Although the alternative route via Malalak is now passable, the Police Chief stated that the location remains prone to landslides. Given the current weather conditions, the possibility of landslides on the Malalak route still persists.

In this situation, individuals without urgent travel needs from Padang to Bukittinggi or vice versa are advised to postpone their journeys temporarily.

Local authorities continue to monitor the situation and provide warnings to the public regarding the development of alternative routes and potential threats from natural disasters during this period. We will continue to provide updates as the situation develops further. Stay tuned for the latest information.
