Ogan Ilir, KOTABARI.COM – A recent controversial case has emerged on social media involving a civil servant teacher (ASN) who also happens to be the wife of the Secretary of the Ogan Ilir (OI) District in South Sumatra, Indonesia. Despite not actively teaching for the past year, the teacher continues to receive certification allowances that are typically granted to active teachers.

The teacher in question was previously assigned to teach at a junior high school in the Indralaya sub-district. However, due to her busy involvement in the Dharmawanita organization, she has not been teaching for the past year. Upon receiving this information, the Inspectorate of Ogan Ilir promptly summoned the concerned civil servant, witnesses, and collected attendance records. “Once the Inspectorate identifies any findings, we will provide guidance and seek the return of any misused funds,” explained Ibnu Hardi, the Ogan Ilir Regional Inspector, as reported by TribunSumsel.com on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.

It was also revealed that the civil servant being summoned by the Inspectorate is actively involved in the management of the Dharmawanita organization. The teaching responsibilities and obligations of the individual will be cross-checked with the Dharmawanita activities schedule. “If there are conflicts between teaching and Dharmawanita activities, we will calculate how many times the civil servant has attended Dharmawanita events,” added Ibnu.

The name of the Secretary of OI, Muhsin Abdullah, has also been dragged into the case, although there has been no official response regarding the matter. The civil servant in question has been transferred to the Secretariat of the Ogan Ilir Regional Office by the Head of the Ogan Ilir Civil Service Agency and Human Resource Development (BKPSDM), Wilson Effendi. However, no written reports regarding this case have been received by the relevant authorities.

In taking swift action to investigate and address the issue, the role of the Ogan Ilir Inspectorate demonstrates their commitment to enforcing discipline and accountability among civil servants in the region. The decision to transfer the civil servant to the regional office indicates that sanctions have been imposed while still allowing her to contribute to the Dharmawanita organization.

This case has garnered public attention as it involves a civil servant teacher who is not fulfilling her primary duty as an educator but continues to receive certification allowances. Such incidents raise questions about the effectiveness of oversight and management of civil servants in Indonesia. It highlights the importance of transparency, accountability, and integrity in the civil service system to maintain public trust and ensure good governance.

The controversy surrounding the civil servant teacher who is not actively teaching but still receives certification allowances has raised concerns about the proper functioning of the civil service system in Indonesia. The actions taken by the Ogan Ilir Inspectorate and the transfer of the civil servant highlight the importance of accountability and transparency within the public sector. It is crucial for the government to address such cases promptly to maintain public trust and uphold the principles of good governance.
