Jakarta, KOTABARI.COM — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named three suspects in a case involving alleged mark-up of the Bukit Asam Steam Power Plant (PLTU) project, resulting in state losses amounting to Rp 25 billion. During a press conference held on Tuesday (9/7), KPK Vice Chairman Alexander Marwata revealed that the suspects include BA, serving as General Manager of PT PLN UIK SBS, BWA, Engineering Manager at PT PLN UIK SBS, and NI, Director of PT TEI (Truba Engineering Indonesia).

According to Marwata, the project showed indications of a 135% mark-up from the original contract value of Rp 74.9 billion, while the actual cost incurred by PT TEI for the sootblowing retrofit work was approximately Rp 50 billion. Auditors are currently finalizing calculations to determine the exact extent of state losses from the case.

The suspects are facing charges under Article 2 paragraph (1) or Article 3 of Law No. 31/1999 on Corruption Eradication as amended by Law No. 20/2001. They will be detained for 20 days for further investigation at the KPK Detention Center Branch from July 9 to 28, 2024.

This case adds to the long list of corruption scandals in the energy sector, highlighting ongoing efforts by the KPK to combat corruption in Indonesia.
