Cengal, Ogan Komering Ilir, KOTABARI.COM – A married couple residing in Cengal Village, Cengal District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency (OKI), is allegedly involved in a drug trafficking case and has been apprehended by the police.
OKI Police Chief, AKBP Hendrawan Susanto, through the Narcotics Unit Chief of OKI Police, AKBP Biladi Ostin, stated on Thursday (28/3/2024) that the couple, S (60), a farmer, and his wife, Sy (55), a housewife, have been arrested for their alleged involvement in distributing methamphetamine.
“Based on information received on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, around 8:00 AM, we received reports that the married couple in Cengal Village often engage in the distribution of methamphetamine,” he said.
Biladi explained that after conducting an investigation, the Narcotics Unit team of OKI Police arrived at Cengal Village around 11:30 AM and immediately conducted a raid at S’s house. During the raid, the married couple was apprehended on the spot.
“During the house inspection, officers found several pieces of evidence in Sy’s underwear, including packages of suspected methamphetamine intended for distribution,” he added.
From the interrogation results, Sy admitted that the evidence was given to her by a man, identified as M, to be handed over to her husband, S, for redistribution.
“Suspect S has received methamphetamine from M twice before and was paid in cash as compensation,” explained Biladi.
The couple, along with the evidence, was then taken to the OKI Police Station for further investigation. They will be charged under Article 114 and 112 of Law Number 35 Year 2009 concerning narcotics.
