Makassar, KOTABARI.COM – The case of a three-year-old toddler being assaulted by a doctor in Makassar, South Sulawesi, continues to gain public attention and has now entered the legal realm. Dr. Makmur, the doctor in question, has been dismissed from his position as the Vice Director of Services at RSU Bahagia, and he now faces the possibility of legal consequences for his actions.
The incident came to light when a video of the toddler being assaulted by Dr. Makmur in front of the child’s father at a coffee shop named “Warung Kopi Nonna” on Jalan Anggrek Raya, Makassar, on Thursday (July 27, 2023), went viral on social media.
Since the incident became public, many have criticized the act of violence committed by the doctor, who was previously regarded as dedicated at RSU Bahagia. As a result of his actions, Dr. Makmur has been relieved of his duties as the Vice Director of Services at the hospital.
Confirming Dr. Makmur’s dismissal, the Legal Consultant of RSU Bahagia, Muhammad Fakhruddin, stated, “During a meeting, we concluded that it is possible that the individual in question is suffering from depression or facing personal issues. According to information from colleagues at the office, he has been seen withdrawing and appearing melancholic in the past week.”
Muhammad Fakhruddin also added that Dr. Makmur would frequent the coffee shop to ease his mind by playing chess. However, his emotions escalated when the toddler, the child of the coffee shop’s owner, disturbed his game. “It seems that he visited the coffee shop to refresh his mind, have coffee, and play chess. But suddenly, the child disrupted him, and in reflex, he acted as we witnessed,” he continued.
Meanwhile, the assaulted toddler has experienced trauma as a result of the incident. The video depicting the assault has garnered widespread condemnation from various sectors of society.
In addition to losing his position at RSU Bahagia, Dr. Makmur is now facing potential legal repercussions for his actions, as they constitute a violation of the law and endanger the safety of children. Authorities will continue to investigate and address the case according to the applicable laws.
This case serves as a reminder to all parties to seek understanding and cope with stress, depression, or other issues in positive ways that do not harm others, especially children, who represent the future of our nation.
