Palembang, KOTABARI.COM – A fire that occurred at Punti Kayu Nature Park on Friday night (27/10/2023) has caused panic among the people in the vicinity. The incident took place on the roadside, precisely across from Myria Hospital, KM 7 in Palembang.
Although the fire was successfully extinguished by firefighting personnel and vigilant citizens, the exact cause of the fire remains a mystery. While authorities are investigating the incident, there is a suspicion that the fire may have been caused by a discarded cigarette butt.
The manager of Punti Kayu Nature Park, Raden, explained that there was no significant damage or losses incurred due to the incident. Furthermore, the operational activities within Punti Kayu Nature Park remain unaffected, allowing visitors to continue enjoying the facilities.
“Alhamdulillah, nothing was disrupted as it occurred far from the park’s entrance and visitor facilities,” Raden said.
The Palembang City Fire Department and Disaster Management Agency (DPK-PB) promptly responded to the incident by dispatching a firefighting unit to the location. While the fire was brought under control within one hour, the extent of the damage caused by the fire is yet to be determined.
Raden also announced that they would collaborate with the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the exact cause of the fire. Further research efforts are expected to reveal the circumstances that led to the incident, which has raised concerns among the local community.
