Depok, KOTABARI.COM – The Pancoran Mas District in Depok City was shaken by a fire that broke out at Hermina Hospital tonight at approximately 10:00 PM local time. The incident resulted in a number of patients rushing out of the hospital as they were evacuated to the exterior of the RS Hermina Depok building.
At the scene, dozens of patients were seen lying weakly on makeshift beds on the streets, sitting in wheelchairs, and even sitting on the asphalt. They were outside the hospital area, waiting for further assistance and treatment.
One of the patients who was evacuated from inside the hospital is Arti, a woman who was in the process of giving birth. When the fire occurred, Arti was in her room on the third floor, sound asleep.
“At that time, I was in my room on the third floor, lying down,” said Arti when approached at the evacuation site.
She recounted that she was awakened by a midwife who came to inform her about the ongoing fire. Without hesitation, Arti was immediately evacuated outside the building along with other patients.
“The midwife came to wake me up, entered the room, and told me there was a fire. I was immediately evacuated here (outside the hospital area),” explained Arti.
Unfortunately, at the time of the fire, her husband and child were not with her. Arti had to face the dire situation alone.
“Yes, I was alone; my husband and child were outside, and I was in the room and immediately taken down on foot by the midwife,” she said with a weak tone.
Despite the tense and anxious situation, Arti expressed gratitude as she and her baby were in good condition after receiving treatment at the Emergency Unit (ER) of Hermina Hospital Depok.
“Alhamdulillah (thank God), in the ER, my baby is fine,” she said with relief.
Meanwhile, firefighting personnel from various areas were quickly deployed to extinguish the flames that engulfed the hospital’s roof. As of the time of reporting, authorities were still working to evacuate all patients and control the fire promptly.
The exact cause of the fire has not been determined yet, and further investigations will be conducted once the situation is fully under control.
