Musi Banyuasin, KOTABARI.COM – A fisherman named Bujang (24) from Karang Makmur, Lalan District, Musi Banyuasin Regency (Muba), was reported missing after being attacked by a crocodile across the Selopak River, which enters the waters of Banyuasin Regency on Wednesday (1/5/2024) around 2:59 PM WIB.

According to eyewitnesses, prior to the tragic incident, Bujang was setting fishing nets on the river bank with his father. However, unexpectedly, a crocodile emerged from the river and dragged Bujang into the middle of the water flow.

Camat Lalan, Jamian, explained that the information he received indicated that Bujang was engaged in the activity with his father. Unfortunately, they were unaware of the presence of the crocodile, which was apparently lurking.

“The victim was immediately attacked by the crocodile, and upon realizing the situation, his father jumped in and grabbed the crocodile’s tail because the crocodile was much stronger and larger. Eventually, Bujang was pulled into the river, and the crocodile managed to escape,” said Jamian on Thursday (2/5/2024).

The victim’s father promptly reported the terrifying incident to local residents. Currently, the search process for Bujang’s body is still ongoing, but as of the time of this report, there have been no signs of discovery.

“Search efforts are being continued by local residents with the assistance of the Village Government. Hopefully, the victim will be found soon,” he concluded.

This incident serves as a reminder to the surrounding community about the dangers lurking around rivers, especially when engaging in activities along the waterways that are prone to the presence of crocodiles. Let’s hope that Bujang will be found soon and reunited with his family safely.
