Muara Enim, KOTABARI.COM – Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds struck Muara Enim and its surrounding areas on Thursday afternoon, causing trees to fall at several locations. One major incident occurred on Letjen Bambang Utoyo Street, right in front of the Muara Enim Police Headquarters. The fallen tree damaged power lines, resulting in electricity outages in several parts of the city.
The State Electricity Company (PLN) and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Muara Enim immediately mobilized their teams to evacuate the fallen trees. On-site observations revealed workers diligently clearing branches and trunks to restore the power supply as soon as possible.
“We are working to restore the power lines and mitigate further risks,” said one BPBD officer at the site.
Fortunately, there were no casualties reported despite the heavy rain and strong winds. Traffic on the Trans-Sumatra Highway (Jalinsum) passing through Muara Enim remained smooth and was not significantly affected by the incident.
As of this report, PLN and BPBD personnel are still working on the site to complete the evacuation process. A kotabari.com journalist is currently at the location to provide further updates.
