Jakarta, KOTABARI.COM – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has conducted a series of raids in connection with a corruption case that has rocked the Ministry of Agriculture. This case has implicated the name of the Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo. The raids, conducted by KPK investigators, began on Thursday (28/9/2023) and continued until Friday (29/9/2023).
KPK spokesperson, Ali Fikri, confirmed that these raids were part of the follow-up actions resulting from the collection of evidence currently underway by the KPK. The searches encompassed several locations, including Syahrul Yasin Limpo’s official residence in the Widya Chandra V Complex.
During the search at his official residence, KPK investigators found a substantial amount of currency in both Indonesian Rupiah and foreign currencies, with an estimated value reaching billions of Rupiah. Ali Fikri explained that investigators even brought money counting devices to process these findings.
In addition to cash, the KPK investigators also uncovered various documents related to the purchase of valuable items, financial records, and electronic evidence. All pieces of evidence have been officially seized and transported to the KPK headquarters in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, for further analysis.
It is important to note that during the search at Syahrul Yasin Limpo’s official residence, KPK investigators also discovered 12 firearms of various types. However, Ali Fikri clarified that these findings were not directly related to the corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture and, as such, have been handed over to the Jakarta Metro Police to assess their legality.
Ali Fikri further revealed that on Friday afternoon, KPK investigators conducted searches at the office of Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture, located in South Jakarta. These searches are still ongoing, and their results will be announced at a later time.
In this case, the KPK has confirmed that the handling of the corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture has reached the investigation stage. However, the KPK has not officially announced the identity of the suspects in this case. Ali Fikri emphasized that the identities of the suspects and the details of the case will be disclosed by the KPK when they carry out the detentions.
The KPK remains committed to uncovering and combating corruption at various levels of government to uphold integrity and justice in the governance of the nation. This case will continue to be monitored for further developments.
