Palembang, KOTABARI.COM – The management of Majestic Hotel Palembang has spoken out regarding the viral news about Sriwijaya FC players not being provided with breakfast during their stay at the hotel.
Suyanto, the Manager of Majestic Hotel, explained that this situation arose due to the hotel’s financial difficulties. He revealed that since Sriwijaya FC players began staying at the hotel in July 2024, the club management had not paid an advance deposit (DP).
“We still accepted them because of our long-standing partnership with PT SOM, the management of Sriwijaya FC. However, until now, the costs for the players’ meals have not been settled by the club’s management,” Suyanto said on Tuesday (10/12/2024).
He stated that the hotel had been covering the players’ meal expenses for the past five months. However, worsening financial conditions have made it impossible for the hotel to continue providing breakfast.
“We’ve tried to find solutions, and I personally sought funds to ensure the players could eat, especially before matches. But at this point, we can’t do anything anymore,” he expressed with regret.
Majestic Hotel Faces Mounting Debt
Suyanto further explained that the hotel is now burdened with several financial obligations, including debts to suppliers, tax payments, and employee salaries.
“I’ve informed the management that the hotel’s finances are completely depleted. We deeply regret this situation, especially for the players, coaches, and staff who are affected,” he added.
The hotel management assured that they would immediately confirm this issue with Sriwijaya FC’s management. However, as of now, there has been no official response from the club.
“We sincerely apologize to everyone involved. This was never intentional. We also feel sorry for the players and staff who are struggling in this situation,” said Suyanto.
Sriwijaya FC Management Remains Silent
Efforts to reach Sriwijaya FC’s manager, Ajie Bastari, for clarification were unsuccessful. As of this report, Ajie has not responded to calls or WhatsApp messages.
This issue has caught public attention, highlighting the importance of basic needs such as food for athletes, especially before matches. All parties are now hoping that Sriwijaya FC’s management will provide a resolution to address the problem promptly.
