Muara Enim, KOTABARI.COM – A tragic accident occurred on the Muara Enim – Baturaja road in Desa Lingga, Lawang Kidul District, Muara Enim Regency, on Tuesday (June 11, 2024) at 3:20 PM. Ramadhoni Sugryanaldo (24), a motorcyclist riding a Yamaha Fino with license plate BG 2852 DAJ, died at the scene after being run over by a Dump Truck with license plate BM 9647 NU, driven by Amin Mulia (40).
According to Muara Enim Police Chief AKBP Jhoni Eka Putra, through Traffic Unit Head AKP Suwandi, the accident occurred when Ramadhoni, a resident of Pasar III Subdistrict, Muara Enim District, was riding his motorcycle from Muara Enim towards Tanjung Enim. Upon reaching the accident site, it is suspected that his motorcycle hit a pothole, causing him to lose control and fall.
At the same time, a Dump Truck traveling in the same direction came from behind. Due to the suddenness and proximity of the incident, the truck driver could not brake or swerve in time, causing the truck’s rear wheel to run over Ramadhoni’s head, resulting in his instant death.
“The victim was run over by the rear wheel of the truck, causing immediate death. After the incident, the victim was taken to BAM Tanjung Enim Hospital,” said AKP Suwandi.
The victim’s body has now been taken by his family for burial. Meanwhile, the dump truck driver and the involved vehicles have been secured at the Lawang Kidul Police Station for further investigation.
“Field observations indicate that the accident site is near a residential area, with a straight road but featuring a pothole in the middle, suspected to be the cause of the traffic accident,” added AKP Suwandi.
This accident adds to the growing list of traffic incidents in the area. Authorities urge motorists to be more cautious and vigilant about road conditions, particularly potholes, to prevent similar incidents in the future.
