Ogan Ilir – A Transportation Department (Dishub) officer from Ogan Ilir Regency, Cahyadi (51), has passed away after being the victim of a hit-and-run incident on Friday night (December 27, 2024). The accident occurred around 8:00 PM in front of the Kramasan Toll Gate while the victim was on duty as part of Christmas and New Year’s (Nataru) holiday services at the Security Post (Pospam).
Traffic Police Chief of Ogan Ilir Police, AKP Desram Cemy, confirmed the tragic event. “The incident happened last night around 8:00 PM. According to the information we received, the victim was on duty at the time,” Desram explained via phone on Saturday (December 28, 2024).
He added that the location of the accident falls under the jurisdiction of the Palembang Metropolitan Police. Nevertheless, Ogan Ilir Traffic Police is assisting in the investigation.
Vehicle Fled Towards Palembang
According to eyewitness accounts, the victim was hit by a car traveling from Indralaya towards Palembang. After hitting the victim, the vehicle fled the scene towards Palembang.
The victim was rushed to Mohammad Hoesin Hospital in Palembang for medical treatment but unfortunately could not be saved. His remains have been taken to his family home in Jakabaring, Palembang, for funeral arrangements.
Investigation Ongoing
Desram assured that efforts to identify the perpetrator are underway. “We are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run. The case is still under investigation,” he stated.
This incident has drawn serious attention as the victim was killed while on duty. It is hoped that the authorities will soon uncover the perpetrator’s identity and bring them to justice.
