Kayuagung, KOTABARI.COM — The Ogan Komering Ilir District Attorney’s Office (Kejari OKI) has named two suspects in the corruption case involving grant funds for the OKI Election Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) during the 2017-2018 fiscal year. The suspects are the Chairman of Panwaslu OKI, Muhammad Fachrudin, and the Secretariat Commitment-Making Officer (PPK), Tirta Arisandi.

The suspects were identified after an in-depth investigation. The Head of Kejari OKI, Hendri Hanafi, revealed that unlawful management of the Rp12 billion grant caused state losses amounting to Rp4,728,709,454.

“The investigation conducted by the prosecution team found strong evidence of the suspects’ involvement in misappropriating the grant funds,” Hendri stated on Tuesday morning (12/10/2024).

Detention Status

Muhammad Fachrudin is currently detained at Class II B Kayuagung Correctional Facility for 20 days to expedite the investigation process. Meanwhile, Tirta Arisandi is not detained as he is already serving a sentence for another case at the same facility.

“This detention is to prevent the suspect from fleeing, destroying evidence, or committing another crime,” Hendri added.

Legal Charges

The suspects are charged under Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 paragraph (1) letter b of Law No. 31 of 1999, as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001 on Corruption Eradication, as well as Article 55 paragraph (1) point 1 of the Criminal Code. They face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

Case Development

Hendri emphasized that investigators would further examine the involvement of other parties in the case. “We are committed to fully investigating this case. There is a possibility of additional suspects depending on the evidence presented during the trial,” he explained.

The Kejari OKI hopes this decisive action serves as a warning for all parties to exercise greater caution in managing public funds and as a concrete effort to combat corruption in the OKI Regency.
