Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir (PALI), KOTABARI.COM – The Penukal Utara Police Station has successfully tackled a forest and land fire (karhutla) that occurred in Tempirai Village, Penukal Utara District, Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir (PALI) Regency on Saturday, July 15, 2023. The Penukal Utara Police team, led by Chief Inspector IPTU Fredy Franse Triwahyudi, SH, conducted a ground check after receiving a report of a hotspot.

In coordination with various relevant parties, including the use of the measure map application, the Penukal Utara Police team managed to determine the coordinates of the observed hotspot in Tempirai Village, Penukal Utara District. After confirming the affected location, the team immediately moved towards the site.

Upon arriving at the targeted location, the Penukal Utara Police team discovered a fire originating from an approximately 1-hectare plot of land. The land belonged to a local resident who intended to clear the area for farming purposes by using fire as an initial step to prepare the soil. However, this action was not adequately supervised, resulting in an extensive fire.

Chief Inspector IPTU Fredy Franse Triwahyudi, SH, expressed the team’s success in extinguishing the fire. “The Penukal Utara Police team decided to conduct a ground check at the observed hotspot coordinates. Upon arrival at the targeted location, the team discovered a fire originating from a plot of land measuring approximately 1 hectare, owned by a local resident who intended to clear the area for farming purposes by using fire,” he said.

The investigation is still ongoing to identify the landowner responsible for the fire. The authorities will conduct further investigations to determine appropriate actions in accordance with the applicable regulations.

During the fire suppression operation, the Penukal Utara Police team was assisted by local residents who actively participated in extinguishing the flames. Through their collective efforts, the fire was successfully contained, preventing it from spreading further.

Chief Inspector IPTU Fredy Franse Triwahyudi, SH, also reminded the public to exercise caution when engaging in activities that may potentially cause fires. He emphasized the importance of fire monitoring and control to prevent disasters that could adversely affect many parties.

In their efforts to prevent forest and land fires in the area, the Penukal Utara Police Station is committed to enhancing patrols and surveillance. Additionally, they encourage community involvement in preserving the environment by avoiding practices that may lead to fires.
