Muba, KOTABARI.COM – The Sungai Keruh sector police, Musi Banyuasin Resort, successfully apprehended two suspects involved in the theft of Pertamina’s iron pipes. The arrest was made after the local police received a report from Pertamina security, who found two individuals loading iron pipes suspected to be stolen on Thursday (July 27, 2023).
Under the leadership of Police Chief Inspector Aiptu Candra Nasution SH, the personnel of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Sungai Keruh Police immediately arrested the two suspects, identified as Heri Permosa (47) and Supargi (57), along with the seized evidence. They were promptly taken to the Sungai Keruh Police station for further legal proceedings.
Heri Permosa and Supargi are residents of Dusun IV, Jirak Village, Jirak Jaya District, Muba Regency. When contacted by the media on Monday (July 31, 2023), Muba Police Chief AKBP. Imam Safii Sik. Msi., through Sungai Keruh Police Chief Inspector Iptu. Andaru Galuh Indratno StrK, confirmed the arrest of the two suspected perpetrators of Pertamina’s iron pipe theft.
“The suspects were caught red-handed by Pertamina security while loading iron pipes into a silver Toyota Inova with license plate number BG 1775 CD. The incident was reported to us, and we took immediate action. A total of 28 iron pipes were seized, consisting of 16 pipes with a diameter of 4 inches and a length of 2 meters, as well as 12 pipes with a diameter of 3 inches and a length of 2 meters,” explained the Police Chief Inspector.
The Police Chief Inspector also elaborated on the modus operandi used by the perpetrators in stealing the iron pipes. They cut the pipes while they were still installed as crude oil transportation facilities and loaded them into a Toyota Inova minibus. Currently, both individuals have been designated as suspects, and they will be charged under Article 363 paragraph (1) points 4 and 5 of the Indonesian Criminal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 7 years in prison.
This case serves as a reminder for all parties to enhance security and surveillance of company facilities, especially those containing valuable materials such as oil pipes. The police continue to urge the public to assist in monitoring and reporting any suspicious activities to prevent future criminal acts.
