Lubuklinggau, KOTABARI.COM – The South Sumatra Regional Police have successfully raided a yellow noodle factory located in Lubuklinggau City, South Sumatra, on Thursday (18/4/2024). The factory, which has been in operation for five years, was found to be using hazardous substances such as formalin and borax in its production process.

South Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Pol A. Rachmad Wibowo, through the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (Dirkrimsus) of South Sumatra Police, Commissioner Suro Pratomo, stated that the apprehension of the factory stemmed from a public complaint. Sub-Director of Indaksi South Sumatra Police, Commissioner Hadi Sutrianto, explained that upon receiving the report, the police immediately launched an investigation.

“During the raid, we found that the factory workers were mixing formalin and borax into a black bucket to soak the finished noodles,” said Hadi. Furthermore, he explained that around 200 kilograms of formalin-infused noodles were successfully seized by the police.

The factory is suspected of producing 5-6 tons of formalin-infused noodles per month, with plans to distribute primarily in Lubuklinggau’s Satellite Market. Additionally, preliminary interrogation results indicate that the factory has been engaging in these hazardous practices for five years, with the mixing of noodles with formalin and borax occurring over the last three years.

An individual suspected to be the owner of the factory has been apprehended by the police for accountability. The South Sumatra Regional Police are committed to further investigating this case for the safety and health of the public.
