Indralaya, KOTABARI.COM – Incidents of motorcycle theft and robberies have been on the rise in Indralaya, Ogan Ilir, over the past month. Local residents are growing increasingly concerned as several cases of such crimes have been captured on social media and reported in the mass media.
The first theft occurred at a minimarket near Jalan Sarjana, Timbangan Village, North Indralaya District, on June 22. A CCTV footage recorded a perpetrator taking away a parked automatic motorcycle from the front of the minimarket. It is suspected that the thief was not acting alone, as another individual was seen waiting near the scene.
The local police confirmed that the victims of these thefts have reported the incidents to the Indralaya Police Station. Ipda Agus Akbar, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit at Polsek Indralaya, stated that they have received the reports and are currently investigating the cases.
On July 15, a woman from Indralaya Raya Village fell victim to a robbery where two motorcycles were stolen. The perpetrators, riding on automatic motorcycles, also snatched a bag containing Rp 7.5 million in cash.
The most recent incident involved a young man who was robbed while passing through the area between Palem Raya Village and Tanjung Seteko on July 22. The victim, identified as Aby, reported that two robbers, approximately 50 years old and slightly overweight, brandished homemade firearms during the robbery. Fearing for their safety, Aby and his companion were forced to surrender their motorcycles and two cell phones to the criminals.
Fortunately, Aby and his companion were left unharmed in the ordeal. They managed to escape without any physical injuries.
When asked for a response regarding the recent robbery affecting Aby, the Head of Indralaya Police, AKP Herman Romlie, mentioned that he would verify the report before taking further action.
These incidents of motorcycle theft and robberies have caused unease among the residents of Indralaya. They are hopeful that the police will swiftly apprehend the culprits. Additionally, some cases, such as the theft of a motorcycle belonging to a student in Sakatiga, have not seen any progress in the investigation, leaving residents in uncertainty about their safety and security in the area.
Authorities are urged to increase security patrols and strengthen crime prevention efforts to provide better protection to the community. Residents are also encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities to prevent further escalation of criminal activities in the future.
