PALI – After conducting a lengthy investigation with the active cooperation of the community, law enforcement authorities have finally apprehended a man suspected of being a drug courier in PALI Regency, South Sumatra Province. The individual, identified as WD Bin IW (21), a laborer residing in RT 008 RW 002, Handayani Mulya Village, Talang Ubi District, has been taken into custody by the Narcotics Unit of PALI Regional Police, South Sumatra Regional Police.
WD’s arrest was made based on Police Report Number: LP/A/57/VII/2023/SPKT.SAT RES NARKOBA/POLRES PALI/POLDA SUMSEL, filed on July 22, 2023. The incident took place around 2:30 PM local time on Talang Jepit Street, South Talang Ubi Village, Talang Ubi District, PALI Regency.
PALI Regional Police Chief, AKBP Khairu Nasrudin, S.I.K., M.H., confirmed the apprehension of the suspect, who is believed to have frequently delivered illegal substances to the location of his arrest.
“That’s correct; we also seized two small transparent plastic packets suspected to contain methamphetamine, weighing 0.36 grams, along with an Oppo A74 mobile phone in blue color with IMEI number 869794051450279, and a black Yamaha V-ixion motorcycle with license plate number BG 5627 DAK, chassis number MH3RG4610HK052436, and engine number G3E7E042985,” stated the Narcotics Unit Chief on behalf of PALI Regional Police Chief.
Furthermore, the Narcotics Unit Chief explained that WD’s apprehension stemmed from community information suggesting that WD, alias WDA Bin IW, frequently transported and conducted transactions involving methamphetamine at the location of the incident.
“Upon receiving the information from the community, our Narcotics Unit, along with its members, conducted further investigations to verify the authenticity of the report. Subsequently, we headed to Talang Jepit Street and spotted the suspect riding his motorcycle at a high speed, with alleged methamphetamine in his possession,” IPTU Hamdani elaborated.
The police officers promptly intercepted and arrested WD, and during the search, the two small plastic packets suspected to contain methamphetamine were found in his possession. WD confessed that the illegal substances belonged to him. He and the confiscated items were then taken to the Narcotics Unit at PALI Regional Police for further investigation.
PALI Regional Police Chief, AKBP Khairu Nasrudin, S.I.K., M.H., commended the proactive role of the community in providing vital information that facilitated the successful apprehension of the suspect.

WD Bin IW now faces further legal proceedings, and the police will continue their investigation to uncover broader drug networks and identify other parties involved in the case. The public is encouraged to stay alert and report any suspicious activities related to drug abuse in their vicinity.
