Lahat, KOTABARI.COM – The Criminal Investigation Unit known as “Team Black Panther” from the Lahat Sub-District Police managed to solve a case involving the offenses of Aggravated Theft (Burglary) and Motor Vehicle Theft (Motorcycle Theft) that occurred on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, around 2:00 AM in Padang Lengkuas Village, Lahat Sub-District, Lahat Regency.
The case was revealed through an operation called “Operation Clean Musi II 2023 LPB/09/VIII/2023/Sumsel/Res Lahat/Sek Kota Lahat,” which took place on August 30, 2023. According to information provided by the Lahat Police Chief, AKBP S. Kunto Hartono SIK, MT, through the Lahat Sub-District Police Chief, AKP Samsuardi, and conveyed by Kanit Reskrim (Criminal Investigation Unit Chief) of the Lahat Sub-District Police, IPDA Zulkarnain SH, the suspects were successfully apprehended in connection with the burglary and motorbike theft cases.
Two suspects were captured during the operation, identified as Depri Saputra (21), resident of Tanjung Periuk Village, Gumay Talang Sub-District, and Upan (21), resident of Muara Danau Village, Tanjung Tebat Sub-District, Lahat Regency. The sequence of events, as explained by Kanit Reskrim of the Lahat Sub-District Police, indicated that on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, around 2:00 AM, the perpetrators committed the Aggravated Theft by entering the house of the victim, M. Heri Sugianto (47), through the left side window that they forcibly opened.
The crime continued with the theft of the victim’s motorbike, a Yamaha Mio M3 model, yellow in color, with license plate number BG 2967 EAE. Additionally, the suspects stole three units of Realmi brand mobile phones from the victim’s house. The total loss suffered by the victim due to the theft amounted to Rp. 20,500,000 (Indonesian Rupiah).
The apprehension of the two suspects was carried out on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, around 4:00 PM. Kanit Reskrim of the Lahat Sub-District Police, IPDA Zulkarnain SH, led the team during the arrest, and no resistance was encountered from the suspects. Based on the confession of one of the suspects, Depri Saputra, the stolen motorbike was sold to Upan through a motorcycle trading platform on Facebook.
The “Team Black Panther” from the Lahat Sub-District Police then pursued Upan. At 6:00 PM, Upan was successfully arrested, and the stolen Yamaha Mio M3 motorbike with license plate number BG 2967 EAE had been sold through a motorcycle trade on Facebook.
Both suspects are currently in custody at the Lahat Sub-District Police for further legal proceedings. Pieces of evidence, including a Realmi brand mobile phone in blue and an Oppo A16 brand mobile phone, were also secured by the investigative team. This case has garnered serious attention from authorities in their effort to combat theft and motorbike theft offenses in the Lahat area.
