PALI, KOTABARI.COM – The Tapak Rimau Unit Reskrim of Tanah Abang Police Department in the district of PALI, South Sumatra Province (Sumsel), successfully apprehended two residents of Pandan Village, Kecamatan Tanah Abang, on suspicion of committing a crime of Aggravated Theft as stipulated in articles 363 paragraph (1) clauses 3 and 4 of the Criminal Code.
The individuals, identified as Fahrurozi and Jumadi, were arrested on Friday (July 21, 2023) based on a report filed by the victim with report number LP/B/12/VII/2023/SPKT/Polsek Tanah Abang/Polres PALI/Polda Sumsel, dated July 21, 2023.
According to the report, on Friday, July 21, 2023, at approximately 2:00 AM WIB, the two suspects allegedly stole 12 steel rods located under the elevated house of a resident in Pandan Village.
Confirming the arrests, Chief of Police (Kapolsek) Tanah Abang, IPTU Darmawansyah, SH, MH, accompanied by the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kanit Reskrim) of Tanah Abang Police, IPDA Aidil Fitriansyah, stated that both suspects, along with the seized evidence, were already in custody at the Tanah Abang Police Station.
“Indeed, both of them have been arrested, and we have secured them along with the pieces of evidence at the Tanah Abang Police Station,” said Kapolsek Tanah Abang to reporters on Saturday (July 22, 2023).
Kapolsek explained that one of the suspects, Jumadi, was initially apprehended by the Village Head of Pandan along with the Village Security (Linmas) and later handed over to the Tanah Abang Police.
“The suspect, Jumadi, admitted that he and Fahrurozi were involved in stealing the steel rods. Based on his statement, we conducted an investigation to locate the other suspect,” Kapolsek further explained.
After further investigation, the police successfully located Fahrurozi at his residence in Dusun III, Pandan Village, Kecamatan Tanah Abang, and subsequently arrested him. During the interrogation, Fahrurozi confessed to committing the theft of 12 steel rods owned by a resident of Pandan Village.
Kapolsek Tanah Abang revealed that as a result of the theft, the victim suffered losses amounting to IDR 3,500,000 (three million five hundred thousand rupiahs). Additionally, the police confiscated evidence, including a brown-handled iron saw.
At present, both suspects are undergoing further questioning at the Tanah Abang Police Station. They will be processed according to the applicable laws regarding the crime of Aggravated Theft that they are alleged to have committed.
The Chief of PALI Police, AKBP Khairu Nasrudin, S.I.K, MH, praised the performance of the Tapak Rimau Unit Reskrim of Tanah Abang Police in handling the case and expressed the police force’s commitment to combat crime within their jurisdiction.
