Lubuklinggau, KOTABARI.COM – A motorcycle belonging to Yolan, a WiFi technician in Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra, was stolen while he was repairing network cables on the roadside of Sukajadi Subdistrict, West Lubuklinggau I District, on Sunday (8/12/2024) at around 1:20 PM. The theft was captured on CCTV and went viral on social media.
An eyewitness, Desi, explained that the incident occurred while Yolan was working on a utility pole to fix the WiFi cables. Two perpetrators arrived on a Yamaha Vega motorcycle. “The driver was wearing a red shirt, and the passenger was dressed in white and wearing a cap,” Desi said on Monday (9/12/2024).
According to Desi, Yolan had forgotten to remove the key from his motorcycle’s ignition, giving the culprits an easy opportunity to steal the vehicle.
While attempting to flee, the thief collided with a woman riding a motorcycle on the road. “When they hit her, both the thief and the woman fell. The thief was shouted at and chased by residents, but he managed to escape with the victim’s motorcycle,” Desi added.
The woman who was struck received immediate assistance from locals, while the thief managed to flee.
West Lubuklinggau Police Chief, AKP Jhoni Fajri, stated that the victim has yet to file a report with the police. “No reports have been submitted about this theft. We urge the victim to report it immediately to facilitate the investigation process,” he said.
