Pangkalan Balai, Banyuasin, KOTABARI.COM – Travelers heading to the city of Pangkalan Balai Banyuasin, South Sumatra, are facing significant challenges in avoiding traffic congestion along the Palembang-Betung Highway. Despite their ultimate goal of enjoying moments with family during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, obstacles in the journey are inevitable.
Road users opting to traverse the Palembang-Betung Highway are confronted with four critical points of traffic congestion that can bring their journey to a halt or progress at a snail’s pace. Simpang Y, KM 16 Gas Station, Simpang Semuntul, and Simpang Air Batu are the points that must be navigated with patience. Vehicles are forced to move slowly or even come to a complete stop on their way to Pangkalan Balai or the Musi Landas Toll Gate.
According to Ipan, one of the motorists we managed to interview on-site, the traffic congestion situation is truly concerning. “The traffic is unbearable. It takes two hours just to reach Pangkalan Balai using a motorcycle, with congestion at Simpang Y and several other points,” he expressed disappointedly.
Observations from the field also indicate an increase in the volume of vehicles carrying holiday travelers traversing the Palembang-Betung Highway. These vehicles are not only coming from Palembang towards Betung but also vice versa. The traffic density has become a serious concern for travelers hoping to reach their destination safely and on time.
With the situation becoming increasingly crowded, extra patience and awareness of traffic safety are required. Travelers are advised to prepare themselves adequately, such as ensuring the condition of their vehicles and observing traffic rules for everyone’s safety. Hopefully, despite facing challenges such as congestion, the spirit and joy of Eid al-Fitr continue to accompany every journey back to the hometown.
